Rob "Hovi" MacWilliams

Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals

Rob MacWilliams (Hovi), the bassist with TOAST, has been laying down the bottom end in bands up and down the east coast for almost 20 years. Born and raised in the suburbs of New York City, Rob moved to South Florida in 1988 where he began to pursue music seriously as both a writer and a performer. Steady work as a club musician with one of Palm Beach/Ft. Lauderdale favorite funk bands "Toast & Jam" let Rob hone his chops and find an identifiable sound unique in its ability to provide melodic improvisation yet remain responsible in securing the underlying groove. Highlights in Florida included Toast & Jams listing with the Allman Brothers, Merl Saunders and headlining a regional Green Peace benefit. Robs visibility in the gigging community lead to ample session work in South Florida as both a bassist and as a keyboardist. In 1995 Rob relocated to Charlotte where he began laying tracks for Eddie-Z of the Playroom Recording Studio. Since than Rob has played with the band "Charity Case" which is the project of Ace & TJ of Charlotte radio station 95.1, as well as Toast, Acme Anvil Company, and the Fuzzy Nuggets.   All of the proceeds generated playing with "Charity Case" go to The Grin Kids, a non-profit organization designed to enhance the lives of terminally ill and chronically handicapped children, ages 12 and younger.
